In March 1998 the Polish Parish in Leicester began talks about relocating the Polish Community Centre from its existing place in Dale Street. In March 2000 a vote was held in which 85% of members voted for relocation.

A suitable site at St Margarets (Wakerly Road) was found, but the purchase of this site, selling of the present site and approvals of a lottery grant took 2 years. During this time building costs have risen due to the boom in the housing market and we are left in a position where we have a financial shortfall to complete all of the planned work.

Building of the new Community Centre started in November 2002 and the first phase will be completed in June 2003. We have to vacate Dale Street by November 2003 but there is still much to do.

At present we are trying various fundraising events and applying for various grant. Any donations would be greatly appreciated.
